WARDOGS Pilot Loadout Guide: What to Carry Before You Fly
A Pilot loadout should be designed around aircraft access, transport value and surviving after landing, not around carrying the most expensive infantry kit. WARDOGS explicitly supports helicopter transport and has a Pilot progression track, so this role has a different budget profile from a normal rifleman life.
Aircraft first, infantry second
Keep the dismounted kit practical and preserve enough cash for the vehicle-dependent part of the plan.
- Main job
- Transport / air support
- Budget rule
- Protect aircraft access
- Ground kit
- Light, survivable, replaceable
- Failure plan
- Fight or return after aircraft loss
Data boundary: current official sources establish Pilot progression and helicopter play, but do not publish one complete live table for every aircraft purchase price, fuel value and pilot-specific equipment choice. Check the current vendor and controls menu after balance patches.
What belongs in a Pilot loadout
| Layer | Priority | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Primary weapon | Practical | Enough to survive after landing without consuming the aircraft budget |
| Protection | Moderate | Helps after emergency landings and dismounted movement |
| Medical | Essential | Aircraft crews still need to survive incidental infantry damage |
| Traversal | Role-dependent | Parachute and movement choices matter more for air crews than for many ground builds |
| Vehicle cash | Highest | The aircraft task cannot happen if the loadout spends the vehicle budget first |
Before takeoff
Why a Pilot should not buy like frontline infantry
A ground-focused player may spend heavily on weapon upgrades because most of the life is fought on foot. A Pilot spends a meaningful part of the life inside or around an aircraft. That makes expensive infantry extras harder to justify unless the flight plan includes a significant dismounted phase.
The practical benchmark is repeatability: can you fly, move passengers, survive a landing and still afford another attempt after a normal loss?
If the aircraft is lost
Do not treat an aircraft loss as permission to throw away the rest of the life. A reasonable backup weapon, basic medical items and enough protection to move with the squad can still create value. The loadout should make the transition from air crew to ground support possible without pretending the Pilot is a dedicated assault role.
Pilot progression and aircraft access
Pilot is a named progression path in Season 1. That means vehicle access and Pilot unlocks can change with balance patches. Use the Progression page for the current track structure and Air Vehicles for aircraft-specific information.
Pilot checklist
- Check the current objective before buying.
- Decide whether the aircraft job is transport, supply or combat support.
- Keep the infantry kit light enough to preserve the vehicle plan.
- Carry enough medical support to survive a landing or crash recovery.
- Verify current helicopter controls in settings.
- Reassess the combined aircraft + loadout cost after every failed run.
